The main character
For a house to be the main character of a narrative, as on this site, it needs its spaces to be introduced. Here you will find the real estate. While a fully linked html-based walk-through lives in the background since 2000, before it to go public it needs a lot of detailed filling in. Here we'll have to satisfy with a general introduction and a growing amount of links 'out' and into the proper place, like first, the Second Floor East room, aka God's Own Attic.
The existing Moulin du Merle, or the 'Villa du Moulin' as it is in some papers referred to, was constructed on the foundations and partly using the structure of a water mill of which the oldest reference dates back to 1697. This date is inscribed in a former entrance portal stone, which is now located at the passage from the oil tank bunker to the old mill, now heating machine room. The original mill was one of the many that could be found along the Beuvron river and pretty much along all more important streams in the region, like e.g. in the Morvan, which is known for its mills.
